Welcome
Welcome to the Centre for Urban Studies and Research (CFUSR) a locally registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of urban sutainability, balanced development as well as good urban governance in Kampala District.
Since its establishment in 2007, CFUSR has implemented many programmes aimed at tackling the emerging urban challenges in Kampala. CFUSR has also raised public awareness about the intractable problems facing the city and built coherent and strategic partnerships with the urban local authorities as well as other civil society organisations.
CFUSR is the first of its kind and the only organisation in Uganda that promotes urban-related research and provides technical assistance to all the stakeholders.
CFUSR also aims to serve as a top-notch research organisation as well as an incubator for innovative solutions and practical urban programmes.

To act as a centre for urban research and to provide technical assistance to the city authorities

To mobilize the available expertise in the field of urban planning and management

To transform urban problems into research questions and develop the research outcomes into policies, programmes and countermeasure strategies that will be mooted to the urban local authorities for adoption

To organize workshops, conferences and seminars related to urban growth and development

To disseminate and share the research outcomes and other important information related to urban development

To work closely with government agencies and other civil society organizations in tackling urban challenges

To initiate debate about urban growth and highlight the emerging problems facing urban centres

To work towards achieving the UN Millennium Development Goals such as gender equality and poverty alleviation

To work towards addressing urban challenges such as solid waste management, drug abuse, lack of an efficient transport system, street children, poor urban governance, environmental degradation, HIV/AIDS, education and slums

To promote the need for a comprehensive urban-based development policy in Uganda
